If approved under EX 13, a person is exempt from the requirement to hold a certificate of competency that would be required for an operation using the vessel for viewing wildlife or other sightseeing in an area permitted by a State or Territory, in inland waters.

  3. Have you attached information in support of the applicant's ability to be the master of the vessel? (Example - photo identification and a short summary of relevant experience and training, including any lower maritime qualifications, first aid etc?)

D. Action by National Regulator

  1. Has the applicant signed the declaration?
  2. Is the applicant conducting an operation using the vessel for viewing wildlife or other sightseeing in an area permitted by a State or Territory in inland waters?
  3. Is the applicant able to be the master of a vessel less than 12m long and less than 100kW inboard or unlimited outboard powered?
  4. Is the vessel less than 12m long and either less than 100kW inboard or unlimited outboard powered?
  5. Will the approval be granted?
    • If ‘Yes’, complete Approval Section E.
    • If ‘No’, provide reasons below.

E. Approval
I hereby grant approval under the Marine Safety (Wildlife or other sightseeing) Exemption 2020 to the applicant to carry out the specified operation within the specified waters (listed below), as master of vessel mentioned without a certificate of competency that would be required for the specified operation. This approval is subject to the condition that the vessel being used for the specified operation must stay in the areas for which the specified operation is approved and is subject to conditions of the exemption (if any) and the conditions below.
